I am fascinated by the details of growth. In this forest scene, a large rock covered with lichen is nestled next to a fallen log; the mushroom has sprung up in the rich organic soil. I particularly loved the leathery look of the mushroom and the rough texture of the soft pale green lichen and forest floor. Beneath it is rich decomposing soil, with the log in the process of disintegration. The soil is building, and within it are the seeds of new life. Oil on Canvas
